Wishes & Wanderlust Ballet Synopses
One of the most unique traditions of our annual recital is our ballet production. Our ballet students work together across multiple levels to bring scenes from classical ballets to life. Through these productions, dancers not only strengthen their technique, artistry, musicality, and stage presence, but also learn the importance of ensemble work, storytelling, and honoring the rich history of ballet. From seasoned performers to dancers stepping into a production for the very first time, every student plays an important role in creating a magical experience for our audience!
This year’s ballet production features two beloved classical works. Our Level 4-6 dancers will perform the enchanting Dream Scene from Don Quixote, while our Level 2 and 3 dancers will transport us to the joyful wedding celebration from Raymonda.
Learn more about each ballet below, and we can’t wait to share these beautiful stories with you at Wishes & Wanderlust this weekend!
Ballet Production Level 4-6: Don Quixote Act 2 Dream Scene

In the famous “Dream” scene in Act 2 of Don Quixote the Ballet, the knight, Don Quixote, is knocked unconscious after mistakenly attacking a windmill and falling. He dreams he is transported to an enchanted, sunlit garden where he sees the beautiful Kitri, a vision of his ideal love, surrounded by Cupid and her Dryads. While Don Quixote attempts to profess his love to Kitri, Cupid gently keeps him from reaching the beauty, as it is not meant to be. He admires the beauty around him until he wakes once again.
Ballet Production Level 2 and 3: Raymonda Act 3 Wedding Scene

In Act 3 of Raymonda, the Hungarian Princess Raymonda, after being rescued from an abduction attempt by Jean de Brienne, a French knight and her fiance, is safe and ready to marry her knight in shining armor. Peace and joy return to the land and the kingdom celebrates with splendid wedding festivities and dancing.
